Belgium - A New Hope (Hour 11 from Start)

Leaving the UK: attempt #4:

We knew that we had missed the opportunity to meet the cargo flight to transport our Porsche Carrera GT to Turkey and then suddenly our phones started to receive text messages and ring off the hook...then a message from Gumball ground control: "Freddie, we r trying 2 push back the times as much as possible, I advise that the police appear to be tracking people through the copilot system, so I recommend turning it off unless is essential. Will update asap, I am trying to find you the quickest alternate route, u r pretty much the only car running!" Apparently Gumballers were getting impounded all over Germany. I hate to admit it, but we were thrilled! Not because we would "win" the rally, but as we knew, this might provide sufficient enough a delay to allow us to go through Belgium, skipping France and catch up to the Gumballers at the airlift. For the first time in quite a while, we are energized, despite exhaustion by our new glimmer of hope. So, peddle down, we're off again from London...this time to Ramsgate, around 70 miles away, to the ferry to Belgium (where they might be more forgiving of one of our "special" license plates). On our long journey to Ramsey we popped into a gas station and debated, based on an idea of ours, confirmed by Gumball ground support, to pull of our Gumball stickers to avoid detection. Its now 4 AM...need to cafine up and get some stong coffee. We are about to pull all the stickers off when it ridiculously dawned on me...We had no luggage (all of our stuff was spread across numerous other cars, as the GT can hold three packs of cigarettes and a baseball cap as extra luggage on a good day) but We're wearing Gumball shoes, Gumball jackets, Gumball T-shirts, and have Gumball wristband and necklaces on. Even if we strip the car of stickers we look like the poster children for Gumball and have nothing else to wear. Needless to say we abandoned the idea of stripping the stickers...the car does look quite cool with them on.
