We waited till 6 AM at Ramsgate with the intention of getting on the 7 AM ferry to Belgium. Our last hope was quashed minutes before 7 AM when were informed the cargo planes would leave before noon and we knew we couldn't make it to Frankfurt in time any longer. At this point we were so determined that we made a revolutionary decision of desperation...we were going to ditch the car and fly to Istanbul to meet up with the Gumball! No luggage. No car...just Gumball spirit. At first we figured we'd take it back to the Trafalgar in London where the other cars would end up, then we thought about finding a secure carpark near Heatrow, then Steve came up with the idea of drop the GT at the closest Porsche dealership to Heatrhow. Million thanks to Jennifer in Team Warrior Heart Ground Control (Jennifer's bedroom) where she stayed up all night monitoring the rally on gtspirit.com and staying on call for internet look-ups if we needed her...like NOW. Steve figured, what dealership wouldn't want a Carrera GT at their display window with Gumball stickers? It was perfect. We could secure the car there and then head out on Turkish airlines to catch-up with the rally in Istanbul. Driving to the dealership was more hell on earth (was the speedbump insanity really only a few hours ago?). I'm not sure if the Co-Pilot GPS had given poor directions, again, but it took 2.5 hours to get back to the dealership. Steve and I were literally punching each other and making bizarre animals sounds in an effort maintain consciousness and get the car to our final destination. It was brutal (and candidly very unsafe). The journey was excruciating for both of us but finally we arrived – our saviors!!!
