I received an email yesterday that greatly saddened me.

I was informed that a friend of mine, who had cut my hair since I moved to California in 1994 was murdered recently. Her name was Mai Bahn. This horrific and senseless act was perpetrated on a wonderful woman, mother of two small children and entrepreneur with a Warrior Heart. She worked 6 days a week to support her family, she was able to buy a house in the bay area, which is no small feat...she was so proud of her children...who will now not have the opportunity to grow up with their mother. Mai cut my hair me before the sandwich board, before my wedding, my child's birth and my divorce. Whenever I looked in the mirror and noticed my hair was long, Id immediately think of Mai and give her a call. She always fit me in that day. You will always be in my memory.

I will miss you Mai. I ask all readers to honor her in a moment of silence. Take a moment of gratitude for all the people in your life, if they be your best friend, your mail deliverer or your child.

Rest in peace.

  • I've had the same guy cut my hair since I was 15. I'm almost 40. He cuts a few friends and my whole family. It's amazing how they truly do become part of your family.

Our thoughts are with you and her family.
